The geoprobe is mounted on a small self-propelled tracked vehicle rendering the system highly mobile. It is capable of sampling in most terrains down to a depth of 25 meters as well as in inaccessible places such as production buildings. It can sample groundwater, soil and soil-gas in all granular and cohesive soils and will punch through tarmac or drill through a concrete with ease.
Applications
The Geoprobe is the ideal tool for:
Initial rapid investigations and screens.
In situ water sampling.
Water profiling.
Installation of monitoring wells.
Groundwater monitoring.
Contaminant plume mapping.
Determining the extent of known or suspected contaminant plumes.
Determining the optimum location for permanent monitoring wells.
Sampling in areas containing significant amounts of underground debris.
Sampling inside warehouses, production builds and other confined spaces.
Monitoring Wells
The Geoprobe is capable of installing small-bore permanent soil gas and groundwater monitoring wells up to a depth of approximately 15m.The system provides several advantages over traditional methods such as:
The boreholes can be installed extremely quickly.
No contaminated spoil is produced during the installation process.
10% of the volume of a traditional borehole needs to be purged on each sampling occasion.
Probing
The Geoprobe's mobility and rapid redeployment time enables soil or groundwater samples to be taken extremely quickly. The main advantages of this method of sampling include:
Minimal physical and chemical disturbance of the sample giving a high degree of sample integrity and excellent data quality.
Soil samples are contained within a clear liner enabling areas of contamination to be easily seen.
Disruption of surfaces is minimal. It leaves only a 50 mm hole that can easily be backfilled.
