Hydrographic

The team has expertise in gathering data from a variety of different sites in the UK and abroad. We are therefore well versed in a wide range of hydrographical fieldwork techniques. The resulting data are often used to produce models to accurately predict the dispersion of chemicals and particulates in the environment. Ecospan have particular expertise in near shore, estuarine and freshwater applications.

Applications

Hydrographic investigations are an integral part of many different projects such as:
  • Effluent plume studies.
  • DTA dilution assessment.
  • Dredging and other physical perturbations.
  • Waterside or coastal development.
  • Modelling contaminant levels against EQS or other regulatory standards.
  • Baseline research.
  • Sediment accretion and erosion assessments.
  • Ground discrimination.
Ecospan owns a large amount of state of the art equipment enabling a wide variety of fieldwork to be undertaken such as:
  • Acoustic Doppler Current Profiling (ADCP).
  • Bathymetry and substrate mapping.
  • Initial and secondary dilution studies from existing outfalls.
  • Dye dispersion studies.
  • Turbulence measurements by means of electro-magnetic flow meters.
